PART 3 : THE IMMEDIATE INSIDE, REMOVING OF SHIELDING AND LOOKING AT THE TRAY

31.
Remember that LOCK switch on the left hand side of the MEGA CD mentioned earlier?

Upon immediate removal of the top cover it's found it does JACK SHIT.  Unbelievable.  Secondly we're greeted with a mass of metal shielding.  This isn't thin stuff either.  It's thick high quality stuff this.  Imagine finding this nowadays.

32.
The same thing but from above.  Excuse the quality of this one.  Here we can see a couple of ribbons going into the right hand section.  I presumed this was the mainboard - and I was right.  You can also see the screws that will have to be butchered in order to get to the more TECHNICAL STUFF....

33.
And so we really start to dive in here.  Lets get cracking with removing the shielding.  A simple three screws and the left hand shield is removed.

34.
See what I was talking about?  That is very high quality indeed.
35.
The CD Tray, with Jaguar XJ220 in.... Oh I hope I don't ruin the game....
36.
There is a board to the rear of the tray, seems like it deals with power input and audio output.
37.
Upon my messing around the front panel fell off.  What a shame.
38.
Ahhh another screwdriver required - These JAPS are so clever.  Using smaller screws for the High-Tech stuff.
39.
This acts as a pivot for the CD... e.g. it holds it in place.  It's also magnetic.
40.
Ahhh with that pivot removed I can now save my game.  Hurrah???
41.
Now we can clearly see the laser unit, and it's branded JVC.  Could this be a reason for it's failure?

Looks good though, and feels great to push.
